When I was in college in Vietnam, I used to have an image of Jesus the Good Shepherd on my desk at all times! It was a very peaceful, trustful, and joyful feeling whenever I looked at the image. The image reminded me that I was always taken care, watched over and protected by Jesus Christ who revealed Himself as the Good Shepherd.
“I am the good shepherd” (Jn 10:11)
Jesus Christ, our Lord, is the good and powerful shepherd.
He is the good shepherd who lays down His life for the sheep (v.11), knows all His sheep (v.27), looks for all sheep that belong to Him and gathers them in one flock (v.16).
He is also the powerful shepherd who has power to lay down His life for the sheep (v.15) and to take it up again (v.18).
We are blessed, my brothers and sisters, to belong to the flock of Jesus Christ, the Good and powerful shepherd. We are God’s children, not of the world. We shouldn’t live according to worldly standards. Don’t be afraid of any power because we are protected by Jesus Christ, the powerful and good shepherd.
“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” (Jn 10:27)
Wishing we all hear the call of Jesus Christ, the GOOD SHEPHERD, through prayer and contemplation, so that we all would live according to our Vocation, not to what we want to be, but live according to What God wants us to be! AMEN.
