I am beginning my new part of priestly formation, pastoral year, during which I will be at Blessed Sacrament Parish in Northeast El Paso. Pastoral year at St. Mary’s Seminary in Houston comes after Theology Two. The academics I have learned in seminary for the last two years are put into practice in the parish. Also in the parish, I will learn and observe the life of a parish priest. I will follow the priest in his duties and see how a priest functions in a parish. I began here at Blessed Sacrament on Saturday September 7 at 8:00 am with Mass and then a funeral at 10:00 am where I assisted the priest in the celebration. I am also getting to know the parishioners and they have been helpful and open to me as I get to know the parish more. I have enjoyed my brief time here and I know that I will learn what I need to know to be a good priest one day God willing. This will be an interesting year, but I know with the help of God and the support of the people during my pastoral year I will be able to better serve the people of God better in the future. Please pray for me. St. Charles Borromeo, Pray for me.
