The spring semster for the 2013-2013 academic year has begun for me here at St. Mary’s Seminary in Houston. The semester will have its difficulties, but I will do the best I can. I am taking six classes: Introduction to Pastoral Care, Christology, Spirituality, Synpotics, Introduction to Homiletics, and Colloquium. The work load is the almost the same as the fall semester; I have much more reading to do in Synoptics class where I have to read the Gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke. The papers are the same. This semester is getting me ready for Clinical Pastoral Education in the summer and also for Pastoral Year next academic year.
Also this semester, I was elevated in my house appointed job. I was assistant Sacristan last semester, and became head sacristan due to one of the seminarians leaving to join a religious community. That has added a small burden to my work load. I have a new assistant, but we have to adjust to our new positions. I am also teaching second and third graders at a parish here in Houston on Saturdays, and teaching a music class on Monday nights to the seminarians so they can have a basic understanding of music. This semester will be heavy at time with all the activities I am involved in, but I now I am not alone, and the Lord is with me. My prayer life helps me to say focused on Him as my goal on why I am in the seminary.
St. Charles Borromeo, pray for me, for I try to do the will of our Lord.
